Asking for help saved me so much time and frustration.
Two days ago I got my photos taken by a professional photographer, the best of the best! Before that,I took my own photos. They were cute. But they just weren't quite right. I didn’t know that using a dark background meant the wheelchair wheels wouldn’t show up cleanly and that I needed a white, non-patterned wall to be able to remove the background well. I was lamenting the problems of getting my wheelchair to look right in photos to a professional graphic designer, and she immediately knew what the problem was (the dark background).
That’s the difference a professional makes. Something I stewed about for months and months was known by the professional in minutes.
Asking for help is hard. It’s vulnerable. It feels scary to say “hey, I need help.” So much of surviving as a wheelchair user requires us to be tough. I’ve got this, I need no one! I can do this, I just need more will power, motivation, time, etc.
We’re fighters, we’re solution finders. Success, I believe, is only found because we work so hard for it. But here’s what I’m finding: asking for help from someone who really knows what they’re doing, means the results are so much faster (and easier).
Once I knew what the problem was, I decided to ask a professional for help. Someone who knew all the details and how to get the results I wanted. In a short amount of time, the photos were taken and now I can’t wait to see how they turned out. In this case, it was getting my photos taken. In your case, it might be having a professional help you with losing body fat and guiding you to do it in a way that will last.
Moral of my story? Everyday is hard, why not make this one part of your life a little easier.
